The chin does not exist by itself, it must be complimented by the other features of the face, and for this reason chin augmentation is commonly done in combination with other cosmetic surgeries.

The Procedure

Chin augmentation is usually done with the aid of chin implants, or less commonly, by a technique that involves cutting the bone and moving it in order to achieve the desired result.

The procedure will typically last form 1 to 2 hours, and is done either with general or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation.

This is not a painful procedure, and patients will more often than not go home that same day, chin properly bandaged for protection. Patients describe a sensation of numbness more than pain on the area surrounding their chin.

The recovery process usually takes from 1 to 2 weeks, though it takes time for the chin to completely heal.
