Z-Plasty is a surgical technique used to fix scars that have healed too noticeably.

It would seem counterproductive, but the old scars are fixed by making new incisions on either side of it, but in a Z-shaped cut. Making the incisions in this shape will actually allow the skin to heal in a much more natural way. Not all scars are susceptible with this technique, and it’s important to note that the old scars will not completely disappear, rather they will become much less noticeable to plain sight.
